YCL clashes with police
KATHMANDU, JUN 29 -
Tension ran high in Teku area on Tuesday morning after the Young Communist League (YCL) cadres clashed with security personnel who reached there to provide security to the house owner who wanted to demolish a building that housed Newa Youth Organisation of UCPN (Maoist).
The YCL cadres turned violent after the house owner started demolishing the building in the presence of security personnel. YCL activists hurled stones at the police personnel and the police used force to take the situation under control. YCL cadres burnt tyres and vandalised a motorcycle.
The house owner, Shobakar Neupane, was compelled to demolish the house after the Maoist cadres allegedly reoccupied the building following their eviction earlier. The YCL cadres claim they have been residing there following an understanding with Neupane’s son.
