NEPSE ends week with loss
KATHMANDU, JUN 17 -
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) ended this week's trading losing 0.54 point. The benchmark index settled at 474.63 points on Thursday.
The secondary market on Thursday saw a decline in the number of companies on the trading floor. Of the 55 companies present on the trading floor,
share prices of 26 companies decreased pulling down the stock market. Only 22 companies registered an increase in their share prices.
On Thursday, the development bank group posted a loss of 2.99 points followed by the finance company group which dropped 1.56 points and the commercial bank group which lost 0.79 point.
However, insurance companies led the gainers with a rise of 2.5 points followed by the others and hydropower sectors with gains of 1.18 points and 0.73 point respectively.
Among the 22 commercial banks on the trading floor, SBI Bank lost
the most, dropping Rs. 25 per share while Laxmi Bank gained Rs. 19 per share.
The development bank group that witnessed trading of shares of 11 development banks was led by Chhimek Vikash Bank posting a gain of Rs. 9 per share while Clean Energy Development Bank dropped Rs. 25 per share, the highest in the group.
Similarly, shares of IME Financial Institution rose by Rs. 12 per share to top the finance company group while Royal Merchant Bank lost Rs. 14 per share.
The stock market saw a turnover of Rs. 18.15 million with 45,883 shares being traded through 732 transactions.
