Village kids on to computer education
DOTI, JUN 09 -
Students have taken a fancy to computer education in Doti district. Scores of students throng the district headquarters, Dipayal, mostly from remote villages to attend classes and gain compute knowledge.
Two computer institutes in Dipayal overflow with students. Harka Kathayat, a computer instructor at Satanam Computer Centre, said most of the students in the computer classes are from remote villages.
“A student walks for hours to reach Dipayal for the computer class. Learning computer has been a trend among the students, especially those who are awaiting their results of SLC and Plus-2,” he said.
Most of the students admitted in the computer training programmes are from Wayal, Kafalleki, Mauwa and Ranagaun.
“It is not easy to get a job without computer skills. So I have enrolled for the computer class during my leisure hours,” said Kalpana Karki of Wayal. Karki, who is waiting for her SLC results, walk for eight hours daily to attend the class along with her four friends.
According to Kathayat, the students of the villages are mostly influenced by talks of computer education’s importance. “Daily, 33 students visit the centre while the number is on the rise,” he added.
Most of the rural students walk for hours, while some are staying at the district headquarters for the same.
