NEPSE downturn continues

KATHMANDU, JUN 07 -
The capital market dipped on Monday too amid a rising flow of shares hitting the market. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) shed 0.03 point to settle at 478.61 points when trading closed for the day.

A total of 446,878 shares worth Rs. 78.07 million were traded on Monday, the week's highest. The development bank group led the list of losers, shedding 2.79 points, followed by the others, manufacturing and processing and finance company groups with losses of 1.18 points, 0.70 point and 0.04 point respectively.

The hydropower group posted a gain of 3.98 points, followed by the banking and insurance sectors with gains of 0.31 point and 0.04 point respectively. Out of the 22 commercial banks on the trading floor, Bank of Kathmandu posted the highest rise with an increase of Rs. 40 per share. Shares of 15 development banks were traded on Monday. Chhimek topped the group by adding Rs. 25 per share.

The NEPSE witnessed trading of shares of 68 companies among whom 25 posted gains and 34 saw their share prices fall.
