Five Maoist activists quit party

POST REPORT

JANAKPUR, MAY 20 -
Five district-level leaders of the UCPN (Maoist) have announced their defection from the party accusing the leadership of being anti-revolutionary.

District committee member Shrichan Mukhiya and four members of party’s Mithila Madhes State Committee — Pratikshya Tiwari, Bihari Raya, Subaran Yadav and Kameshwor Yadav —announced their decision by organising a press meet in Janakpur on Thursday.

Mukhiya was an influential youth leader who actively participated in Maoist activities during the decade-long insurgency. Immediately after quitting the political party, the five formed the CPN Revolutionary Maoist, unifying themselves with the CPN Revolutionary.
