Why? UML asks Gautam
KATHMANDU, MAY 03 -
A day after the CPN (UML) Vice-Chairman, Bam Dev Gautam, forwarded a memorandum to party Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal demanding Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal be called back, the Central Disciplinary Commission of the party has sought clarification from him for what it termed a violation of party discipline.
On Saturday evening, Gautam had forwarded the memorandum to Khanal and journalists through email.
The memorandum said the prime minister is mainly responsible for inviting confrontaion in the country by not paving way for national cosensus.
In his memorandum, Gautam had claimed that about 60 UML leaders supported his proposal that demanded the party-led government step down.
“Gautam crossed the limit of discipline and went beyond the party rules and regulations. He is free to share his dissatisfaction with the party leadership,” said Commission member Amar Giri.
Earlier, a group of UML leaders reached the UML headquarters demanding action against Gautam and his supporters.
Gautam, however, said such directives are meaningless and that he is clean. “I did this only to save the party organisations in the changed context,” he said.
He came down heavily on some party leaders for provoking the Youth Force, the UML youth wing, in abusing him for seeking the prime minister’s resignation.
“On Sunday night, they (Youth Force activists) threatened me on the telephone,” Gautam said. The Youth Force, however, rubbished the allegation.
