PARSA, APR 28 -
Former Crown Prince Paras Shah has reiterated his father’s statement that it is entirely up to the people to decide whether the usurped monarchy is restored.

At a press conference in Birgunj on Wednesday, Paras said whatever the people wished for would get materialised. Deposed King Gyanendra Shah had told a TV channel a few months ago that only the people could decide the fate of monarchy. The remark had sparked furore then.

Paras arrived here to inaugurate a community eye hospital.

The former crown prince said he wished for the end of bloodshed and violence in the country. He, however, skirted questions on current politics.  “I’m not a politician, so I don’t know about the matter,” said Paras, when asked about the post-May 28 scenario.

The former crown prince dismissed the media report that he was forming a party and embarking on a political career as baseless. A Singapore-based newspaper had published news a few months ago that Paras was planning to start a party.    A large crowd had built at Birgunj to welcome the former royalty, who made a public appearance after a long time. During the interaction with the local reporters, Paras urged them not to ask any political or controversial questions. He said that his trip to the business hub was solely for social and religious purposes. Paras also visited Gahawamai and Mahabiristhan temples.
