KATHMANDU, APR 25 -
At the invitation of Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigmi Yoser Thinley, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal is scheduled to leave for Thimphu on April 27 to attend the 16th Summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

Nepal will be leading a team comprising high officials and his wife Gayatri Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

The Thimphu delegation includes, among others, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala, Foreign Secretary Madan Kumar Bhattarai, the prime minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Rajan Bhattarai, the deputy prime minister’s Adviser Chiranjibi Nepal, National Planning Commission Member Dinesh Devkota, Nepal’s Ambassador to India Rukma Shumser J.B. Rana and Constituent Assembly Member Ajay Chaurasia.

The prime minister is scheduled to address the inaugural session of the 16th Meeting of Heads of State of SAARC in the Grand Assembly Hall in Thimphu on April 28. 

On April 29, he will attend the Summit Retreat at the Bhutan House in Thimphu’s SAARC Village.

Themed “Towards a Green and Happy South Asia”, the SAARC conclave will conclude with the adoption of the Thimphu Silver Jubilee Declaration, which is expected to focus on important issues.
