CPN-UML parallel panels go

POST REPORT

KATHMANDU, APR 17 -
The CPN-UML Standing Committee (SC) meeting on Saturday dissolved the party’s parallel committees in Kathmandu district. The intra-party differences between Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and influential leader K.P. Sharma Oli had led to the formation of parallel panels. The meeting also instituted a new district body headed by Nirmal Raj Kuikel.

The UML had formed a three-member taskforce headed by Pradeep Gyawali to resolve the row in January. It had submitted a report to the party recommending dissolution of both committees and the formation of a new one.

“Both the panels are dissolved and the new one will hold the district convention,” said Ishwor Pokharel, UML general secretary.
