Chinese team in town

KATHMANDU, APR 05 -
The Nepali business community on Monday asked a visiting Chinese business delegation from Sichuan to extend the infrastructure development taking place in the western region of China to Nepal.

"With Sichuan developing fast in technology and infrastructure, Nepal wants to benefit from Chinese development," said Pradeep Jung Pandey, vice president

of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) at a meeting with the Chinese delegation.

According a press statement of the FNCCI, the Chinese team led by Yang Shi Bo of the CCPIT-Sichuan Council is in Nepal to invite Nepali traders to participate in the Western China Fair 2010 to be held in Sichuan in October.

The Nepali business community asked the Chinese team to work jointly with Nepali entrepreneurs to expand their investment and businesses in Nepal. The Nepali side also expressed concern over the rising trade deficit with China. Nepal's exports to the northern neighbour amounted to Rs. 24 million while imports reached Rs. 427 million as per the latest statistics.

The Chinese delegation expressed its desire to deepen economic relations between Sichuan and Nepal.
