‘No rebirth of monarchy’

SYANGJA, MAR 27 -
UCPN (Maoist) Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai said monarchy cannot be resurrected from the dead.

The recent statement of former king Gyanendra Shah was objectionable, he said speaking at a function organised at Satauchandi of Syangja district on Saturday. He accused the deposed king of trying to take advantage of the fluid political situation of the country.

In another context, the Maoist ideologue said the country should be ruled by those who won the election. But the nation is ruled by the person defeated from two constituencies in the poll, he said. “Thus, the former King dared to speak in public.”

Saying the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have a crave for power, the former finance minister charged that the two ruling parties are not committed to the constitution-drafting and current peace process.
