BIRATNAGAR, JAN 20 - Maoist rebels, eastern division, today claimed to have killed at least 21 security personnel in two separate incidents in Morang’s Ramite area two days ago.
Refuting the RNA’s statement and charging it as "fabricated", a statement issued by the Maoists to The Kathmandu Post stated that the death toll on their side was one while 21 fell on RNA’s side. On Friday, the government statement issued here stated that one APF personnel and two RNA personnel died in the attack.
Maoists have further stated that 26 government security men were wounded in the incident. However, the claim could not be verified merely on the basis of the faxed statement.Posted on: 2004-01-21 03:32
