Entrepreneurs encouraged by increasing tourists
BANDIPUR, JAN 18 - Following the successful completion of "Bandipur festival" held recently, Bandipur, a mid-western hilly area, is rapidly transforming itself as a tourism-hub center, as the number of visitors has been in increasing trend.
"I have been to many places of Nepal but never have visited a place beautiful such as this," said amazed Tika Manthoni from Holland who visited Bandipur in his winter holidays.
Manthoni also added that he changed his entire schedule in order to spend more time in the place.
Not only Manthoni, other tourists who visited this place have also experienced the same.
Traditional houses, stone roofs, decorative chowks and Gallis and aesthetic beauty of mountain ranges visible in the northern side have lured tourists from all around the world.
Many mountain peaks including Machapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manaslu, Nilgiri and Ganesh are clearly visible from this place.
"Being situated 35 hundred feet above the sea level, no mist or fog form in the morning.
Sunshine warms the place early in the morning leaving the mountain peaks clear and beautiful," exclaimed a local resident.
Meanwhile, Raj Kumar Shrestha, a local entrepreneur of Bandipur informed that the locals who were panicking due to conflicts were now hopeful towards their future. Currently, lots and lots of tourists visit this place each day.
However, according to Ghanashyam Shrestha, proprietor of Bandipur Development Committee, the current rate does not tally with the potential of this place.
Emphasizing the need for proper management he said, "to enhance tourism, this place should be developed as a hill station."
Local tourism entrepreneurs are also urging the government to build a view tower in Bandipur.Posted on: 2004-01-19 03:48
