Mumbai Resistance backs Nepali Maoists

MUMBAI, JAN 18 - Mumbai Resistance (MR) 2004 - a parallel programme to the World Social Forum (WSF) 2004 kicked off here today striking extreme "anti-imperialism" notes.
Held just across the road from the fourth session of WSF which kicked off yesterday, the MR activists, who believe in armed struggle against imperialism, have also expressed solidarity to the Maoist movement in Nepal. "We support all the armed struggle around the world, and thus the Maoist movement in Nepal," Darshan Pal, main speaker of the MR said.
The Maoists have not directly participated in the Resistance. However, Nepali Jana Adhikar Surakshya Samiti, an organisation believed to be affiliated with them, is one of the organisers.
Meanwhile, politburo member of the CPN (Maoist) C P Gajurel (Gaurav) will be presenting a paper in the MR seminar in absentia. MR activists have also raised voices for the release of Gajurel, who was arrested by the Indian authorities in August last year. MR activists have also charged the WSF of inviting pro-imperialist organisations in the gathering.Posted on: 2004-01-19 04:08
