Amber Gurung’s book and audiocassette launched

POST REPORT
KATHMANDU, JAN 17 - In what was a rare moment for Nepalese music and literature, an audiocassette and a book by music maestro Amber Gurung were launched today in the capital. Gurung, known for his persistence for artistic perfection, has produced a priceless few audiocassettes, despite a pile of songs written and composed by him waiting for the perfect voice in his closet.
Renowned artists, musicians, and litterateurs gathered at Hotel Bluestar to congratulate Gurung and themselves for the releases, which were seen as valuable gifts to Nepali Arts. Various eminent personalities spoke on the book titled ‘Akshar Ka Awaj Haru’ (Voices of Letters), and the cassette titled ‘Shanti Sangeet Sandhya’ (Peace Music Evening). Meanwhile, an unassuming Gurung, who is originally from Darjeeling said, "People credit me for bringing a new dimension to Nepali music. However, I strongly believe that my acquaintance with artists in Nepal has been my strongest source of artistic inspiration." Posted on: 2004-01-18 02:26
