BHAKTAPUR, JAN 17 - Prime Minister and Defence Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa commissioned 158 officer cadets taking part in the 42nd officer cadet training conducted at the Royal Nepal Army Training Centre, Kharipati at an investiture ceremony today.
Prime Minister Thapa presented ‘khukuri’ to Shashi Kumar Karki who stood first and adjudged the best trainee cadet in the 11-month long training.Addressing the function, Prime Minister Thapa said he was confident that the theoretical and practical knowledge gained by the cadet officers in course of the training would help them in fulfilling
their responsibility of putting out the wildfire of terrorism which he said is spreading out in the motherland.
The Prime Minister also expressed the belief that the theoretical and practical knowledge imparted to the newly commissioned officer cadets would further promote the infallible faith which the entire Nepalese have in their hearts towards the Royal Nepal Army over the ages.
The evil dream of dictatorial authoritarianism of the terrorists which they are trying to impose in Nepal and on the Nepalese will soon meet with failure, Prime Minister Thapa said, adding the Royal Nepal Army should be able to prove that the true identity of a person is known only during trying times.
Expressing the conviction that the newly-commissioned officers would adopt the three inherent traits of loyalty, understanding and responsibility, which are essential qualities in a moral person, as the guiding principles while carrying out their duty, Prime Minister Thapa noted that they would remain conscious and alert toward their role and responsibility, and also become steadfast in the line of duty even if it means having to make self-sacrifices.
PM Thapa said it was very essential for the RNA personnel to make adjustments according to the demands of the time and circumstances and to dedicate to their duty by considering the dignity, honour and prestige of the country as their only guiding precepts.
He also wished continued progress and success for the bright future of all the newly-commissioned officers joining the Royal Nepal Army.Posted on: 2004-01-18 02:43
