Roadmap not outcome of conspiracy: Nepal
BIRATNAGAR, JAN 17 - CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Nepal said that the nine-point roadmap put forward by the party in order to give outlet to the present political crisis should not be viewed as an outcome of conspiracy.
Speaking at the interaction programme organised by Progressive University Teachers’ Association here today, he asked to view the proposed roadmap without any prejudice to preclude the rift among the agitating political parties. He stressed that the UML had come up with the proposed roadmap since nobody seemed serious about resolving the crisis faced by the country. At a time when the constitution is not functional, it is important to attain political legitimacy, which would activate the constitution and ultimately lead to constitutional legitimacy. Clarifying proposition for new constitution in the roadmap, he conceded of deliberately leaving out some important points while drafting the present constitution.
He dismissed suspicion harboured by the political sector to this roadmap as an outcome of the Lucknow meet with the Maoist leaders and the meeting with the king later.
Pointing to the present political crisis as a triangular conflict, he claimed that this conflict could be resolved. He viewed the Thapa-led government as the biggest hindrance to the resolution of the present political crisis.Posted on: 2004-01-18 02:45
