Deplorable act

JAN 16 - We are seriously concerned at the news that Dinesh Prasain, coordinator of the COCAP, has been manhandled by unknown plain-clothed personnel at his home on 12 January 04. We demand that the authority concerned initiates an investigation into the incident and brings the culprits to justice.
Violence is a serious violation of human rights. Any kind of violence unleashed by any actors should be deplored and desisted forthwith. It is unfortunate to see that the organisation that holds such a principle has been drawn into controversy by attempting it to link to the act it strongly deplores. The news published in The Kathmandu Post has tried to do just this. A malicious attempt has been made to link our reputed organisation to this untoward incident. We strongly denounce and deplore such a ploy. We would like to warn all the concerned that such a ploy will only contribute to divide the human rights movement and protect the violators of human rights.
