NTC expands mobile phone, Internet
KATHMANDU, JAN 15 - Nepal Telecommunications Corporation (NTC) is going to expand cellular mobile telephone service to Palpa and Dhankuta districts from tomorrow.
According to Madan Kaji Shakya, Director at the New Services Directorate of NTC, the operator is going to distribute post-paid mobile phones in those districts.
After the distribution of cell phone, the total number of districts having mobile phone facility would be 28.
He also said that NTC was going to introduce Internet service to Hetauda, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Butwal, Manglapur and Lumbini from tomorrow.
Likewise, the state-run operator would also expand Internet service in Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Surkhet and Itahari within a few weeks.
Currently, NTC is providing Internet service in Kathmandu, Bharatpur, Birgunj, Dharan, Biratnagar and Birtamod.
Although there are many packages, NTC provides monthly unlimited Internet access at Rs 1,000 and it has over 2,500 account holders.
Shakya also said that NTC is doing homework to reduce the lease connectivity charge in the near future.
NTC has distributed over 110,000 mobile phone connections including both pre-and post-paid services.Posted on: 2004-01-16 03:10
