Everest base camp is world’s 7th best
KATHMANDU, JAN 15 - The UK based leading magazine, The Observer has ranked the trek to Everest Base Camp as world’s seventh best journeys of a lifetime. The ranking was published in the newsmagazine’s Sunday edition on January 11.According to a press release issued here today by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Nepal is the only south Asian country to mark within 20 best adventure destinations of the world.
Nepal was ranked seventh on the basis of the write-ups of Journalist and a travel write of the newsmagazine Jill Hartley. He has mentioned the trekking to Everest base camp as the great adventures that one never forgets.
Nepal, was recently ranked tenth world’s tenth best adventure tourism destination for year 2003 by iExplore, an internet-based travel agency. Nepal had slipped to 14th position in 2002, in the previous ratings of the iExplore.With the latest rating as world’s seventh best adventure destination, Nepal has beaten Galapagos, a South American island that was ranked first in iExplore’s best adventure selling destinations in the year 2003.The Galapagos Islands stood at sixteenth position in this list of The Observer. The journey from Ruta Maya Antigua to Tikal of Guatemala has been selected as number one among 20 journeys.
Describing the Everest Base Camp journey, Jill Hartley writes, "The crown jewel of the Himalayas invokes tales of unbelievable human courage and strength.….
