KATHMANDU, JAN 14 - Representatives from several Non-Government Organisations of Nepal presented their reports at the 30th Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) yesterday at New York, United States, says a release issued here today.
As per the statement, the reports focused on various issues faced by Nepali women. Special presentations on the issues related to discriminatory laws, citizenship, single women and economic and cultural aspects were made at the event.
The committee members of CEDAW raised questions regarding specific legislation in support of single women, role of judiciary, discriminatory laws and collaboration between NGOs and the government of Nepal.
Sapana Pradhan Malla, Dr. Chandra Bhadra, Tulasa Lata Amatya, Lily Thapa and Anjana Shakya made the presentations on behalf of the NGOs. The CEDAW Committee will consider the report submitted by the government of Nepal at tomorrow’s meeting, stated the release.Posted on: 2004-01-15 03:50
