Maoists ‘cautiously welcome UML road map

PR
KATHMANDU, JAN 15 - The CPN-Maoist has cautiously welcomed the "roadmap" recently made public by the CPN-UML saying it was one step forward in the democratic movement. It has, however, expressed suspicions that it might be a move to scale down the growing demand for republic by youth and students and could push the UML towards regressive forces.
"We have expected that the next move of the CPN-UML leadership will be towards making the constitution through constituent assembly elections," the Maoist leader Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai told Janadesh, Maoist mouthpiece in an interview. Posted on: 2004-01-16 02:58
