JAN 14 - “Hundred rupees per rally” (TKP, Jan 13) by Bikash Sangraula was a good read. It’s disgraceful how senior politicians use such foul methods to get people to join the (pointless?) agitation. It may be lucrative to the construction workers and the like, as mentioned in the piece, but it certainly doesn’t do much help in the long run. If we want to put forth our demands, we should do it in the right spirit with the collaboration of like-minded people. Buying people to join in doesn’t serve the purpose.
And, it seems, the rest of the Nepalese populace have a devil-may-care attitude towards it all. Our perception is that things will eventually work out. So, all we do is keep up with the news and make sure that we don’t happen to be on the scene of the agitation when we go out to the market or wherever.
