KATHMANDU, JAN 14 - Parshu Narayan Chaudhari, Chairperson of Raj Parisad Standing Committee felicitated social worker Dr. Laxmi Kanta Pandey with a Dosalla and a letter of appreciation for his contribution in naturopathy. Pandey has been providing free naturopathy service to the people.
The programme was organised by Social Service Organisation Nepal (SSON) to discuss the role of Monarchy in the 21st century, on the occasion of the 33rd birthday of Crown Prince, Paras and first anniversary of SSON in the capital today.
Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhari said that the monarch of the country is fully governed by democratic vision and possesses every quality required for a 21st century’s king. "The monarch of the country is always in favour of the people. The political parties are just playing with people’s sentiment for their selfish purposes," he said.
Stating that the solution of the present problem lies with the king and not with the political parties, Professor Dr. Sushma Acharya of Tribhuwan University said, "If king and the people join hands the present situation can be solved."
According to her, the only reason that the country never had to be under foreign rule is due to monarchy. "The present move is backed only by the corrupt people and not the people. The role of the king in the present scenario is vital," she added.
Similarly, Dr. Sita Neupane, presenting her paper on the topic informed that 43 countries in the world are under monarchy. "Among these, most are under democratic constitution. So is the case in Nepal," she claimed.Posted on: 2004-01-15 03:41
