16 Maoists surrender
PANAUTI, JAN 13 - Sixteen persons have today surrendered to the District Administration Office, Kabhrepalanchok, stating that war was not in the interest of the masses.
According to the office, those surrendering are Tasbir Tamang Alias Pikchar, Brish Bahadur Lama and Chandra Singh Lama of Chaubas Vdc of the district.
Likewise, Prahlad Thapaliya, member of the Revolutionary Association Madan Bahadur Kajhi, Pramod Raj Upreti, member of Revolutionary Students Union Purushottam Majhi, so called chief of the Village Government Laxmi Bhakta Thapaliya, Shiva Prasad Sedhai, Lokab Majhi, Sujan Pahari, Ramhari Kadel, Kolati, Pavan Raj Upreti, all of
Bhumlu VDC, have surrendered to the District Administration Office.
Also surrendering at the office are Prem Prasad Chaulagai alias Arun of Pokhari Chauri, Niroj Pahari and Ilaka member of Dalit Liberation Front Arjun Bishwakarma, said CDO Shambhu Koirala.
Recently, the brigade commander of the Bheri-Karnali region of the Maoists’ western division Hom Prakash Shrestha and company commander of the Seti-Mahakali region Janu Chantyal had surrendered to security forces, making themselves the highest Maoist command officers to have surrendered to date.Posted on: 2004-01-14 04:22
