KMC to be housed in historical Bag Durbar
KATHMANDU, JAN 13 - Cabinet meeting today decided to hand over the capital-based historical Bag Durbar, which was occupied by Ministry of Finance until two months back, to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).
The building is vacant ever since the Ministry shifted to Singhdurabar premises. Both the KMC and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) were demanding the ‘palace’ constructed by Bhimsen Thapa, the first Prime Minister of Nepal.
The government also decided to provide Rs 100 million to the CIAA to build a new office, possibly at the premises at Tangal previously occupied by Rastriya Banijya Bank. The KMC is shifting to Bag Durbar within one-and-half month, according to Keshav Sthapit, mayor of the KMC. He also revealed that the KMC is all set to construct a commercial complex in the land currently occupied by the KMC.Posted on: 2004-01-14 04:31
