Leper woman succumb to cold wave in cave

POST REPORT
DOTI, JAN 13 - An elderly victim of leprosy died of cold in a lonely cave, away from her house in Banlek VDC-9 of Doti district, a week ago. Following social ostracism Mandhari Bhul, 61, was living alone in the cave for the past two weeks.
Bhul died of the cold a week ago and a local woman who happened to be near the cave sighted Bhul’s dead body in a decomposed state, according to Karna Bahadur Dhami, a villager. The villagers cremated the remains of the elderly Bhul at the bank of the nearby Seti River.
Her son, Guje Bhujel, arrived three days after the cremation of his mother’s body. According to Bhujel, who is employed at a hotel in India, is the only son of the dead woman.
"While, she was alive I had to keep her out of the village due to pressure from the other villagers. I am sorry that I was not around when she died," lamented the son.Posted on: 2004-01-14 04:16
