Ambassador to India felicitated by NBFS

POST REPORT
KATHMANDU, JAN 12 - The newly appointed Nepalese ambassador to India, Karna Dhoj Adhikari, was felicitated by the Nepal-Bharat Friendship Society (NBFS) at a function today.
Adhikari, an engineer by profession, has also held the position of secretary at the Home and Finance Ministries and is also a member of the Raj Parisad Standing Committee.
Prem Lashkeri, President of the NBFS, felicitated Adhikari with the presentation of a Rudraksha Mala (sacred beads as per the Hindu religion).
Speaking while accepting the honour, Adhikari said his appointment as an ambassador to India has provided him with the opportunity to further strengthen the ties between the two countries.
VP Haran, Acting Indian ambassador to Nepal, said the two countries held a unique relationship. "The open border does bring a lot of problems but both the countries have been able to contain them," he said.
Other speakers, Yadav Kanta Silwal, former general secretary of SAARC and Keshav Raj Jha, former ambassador to UNESCO, said that the ties between the countries would be of mutual benefit.Posted on: 2004-01-13 03:41
