Shah denies taking commission

POST REPORT

KATHMANDU, JAN 12 - Haj Committee Chief Mehboob Shah today denied allegations that he was involved in taking commission from Haj pilgrims. "Taking commissions from pilgrims is a grave sin. I would never commit it," he said.
Shah also said that the two-way ticket price of $ 700 for Kathmandu-Doha-Jedda trip is labour price applicable during normal periods. "During Haj, the air ticket is costlier as airplanes have to return empty. Qatar Airways charges $ 950 during Haj, while we negotiated with PIA for $ 834." Binita Sangraula of Zenith Travels has corroborated this.
Shah also said that he has been holding daily meetings with Home Ministry officials, and the allegation that he was taking decisions on his own is false.Posted on: 2004-01-13 03:43
