Melamchi Project to develop local education standard
MELAMCHI, JAN 11 - With the motive of increasing the educational standard of all schools in this region, the Melamchi Project will be assisting in the infrastructure development of the educational institutes according to necessity, along with training for the teachers.
This educational bonanza is being provided to the locals of this region for channelling the water of the Melamchi River, which will be taken to the capital.
It is learnt that educational materials worth Rs. 1.2 million is to be distributed among 89 schools in the 14 affected Village Development Committees (VDC) of this district.
Jayendra Shrestha, the educational coordinator of this project informs that they have already purchased the educational materials and will be distributing these materials to the affected schools very soon. This is only the preliminary phase of the educational relief about to be implemented there, while preparation for promoting the standard of education is underway, contended Shrestha.
For the educational development of the Melamchi region, the project has formed the Melamchi Region Educational Development Committee (MREDC).
It is through this committee that the proceedings of the various aspects for technical education such as, formulation of the nature of education, training of teachers, infrastructure development of schools, child concern and women awareness programmes, education for the old, and others will be decided and forwarded for further implementation.
It is learnt that the educational development programme has been introduced in this region for the past one year. The coordinator Shrestha says that they have prepared this programme according to the demand of the main affected residents of this region.
It is learnt that for the first 18 months of this educational programme, the project has allocated a sum of Rs 6.464 million.
About 66 schools from the affected region of this district have already forwarded their application for availing from the physical infrastructure development programme of this project.
Under the Social Uplift Programme, programmes such as, mid-region development, electrification, income-generation and health programme have been envisaged.
