Maoists kill 5 including three policemen
DHANGADI, JAN 11 - Maoist rebels gunned down three traffic policemen on duty and murdered a RPP cadre and a youth in separate incidents.
Traffic policemen Prem Singh Kunwar, Salik Ram Sharma and Rameshwor Lamichane were shot dead by the Maoists in Dhangadi at around eight am when they were on duty while a civilian was seriously injured, police said.
Police said the Maoists supposedly used Chinese pistol and fired from close range.
In yet another tragic incident in Dhangadi, Gyaneshwor Aryal, a local riding a bicycle, sustained bullet injury. The incident occurred at the Bhansar Road. According to the police, the incident occurred due to the bad state of a gun carried by a patrolling securityman.
In a report from Rautahat, a Maoist was killed when the latter made an unsuccessful attempt on a police patrol team.
Policeman Big Bahadur Taqmang was injured in the incident.
Meanwhile reports from Hetauda stated that Maoists murdered a 33-year-old youth Gagan Bahadur Magar of Malta VDC –9 after accusing him of conspiring against them.Meanwhile, Munashi Kawari, a RPP cadre of Mahottari’s Dhamaura was shot dead by rebels yesterday.In yet another incident in Khotang’s Okhre Dandagaon, a woman Maoist identified as Sabitra KC was killed in an encounter with security forces while Sarita, another Maoist rebel, was arrested.Reports from Tikapur stated that Maoists bombed an area police office.
