Pandey bags golf title

KATHMANDU, JAN 11 - Rabindra Raj Pandey won the Crown Prince Birthday Cup Golf Tournament held at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) on Jan 9-10.
He netted 37 points to win the title pushing Tendi Sherpa (35 points) to the second position. Similarly, Sher Bahadur Pandey (30 points) edged Gyan Bahadur Gurung (27 points) to win the senior title.
Likewise, Shastika Shrestha won the ladies title on countback after she and Eu Hazur Thapa both finished on 26 points. Sunny Baral (30 points) was the runaway winner of junior title after runner-up Apurba Koirala could gather just 10 points. Chuda Bahadur Bhandari hit three birdies to get award for most birdies while Shivaram Shrestha hit the longest drive in the 11th hole. Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha hit the closest to the pin in the 17th hole. Defending champion Gyan Bahadur Gurung was also honoured at the occasion. Minister for Education and Sports Hari Bahadur Basnet gave away the awards to the winners at a programme held at RNGC. The tournament organised by Nepal Golf Association with assistance from RNGC, Mt Everest Brewery and member secretary of National Sports Council Kishore Bahadur Singh featured 68 golfers including three females.
