UML members for heating up stir
KATHMANDU, JAN 10 - On the fourth day of the fifth central committee meeting of the CPN-UML, members urged the party leadership to up the street movement.
A central committee member told The Kathmandu Post that the members speaking today, also warned the party leadership against expecting positive consequences from the king’s latest round of meetings with leaders of political parties.
"The party should not believe the king. Instead, we should continue with the street protests," the member said.
The members also strongly urged the party leadership to make a clear-cut opinion regarding constitutional monarchy.
He said that the members opined that if the king continues with his retrogressive activities, the UML was not obliged to give undue respect to him.
All the central members also claimed that the king was compelled to initiate consultation with political parties only because of the heat created in the streets.
"There is a slim chance for the UML to make a compromise with the king, as all the central members are against it," the member said.Posted on: 2004-01-11 04:32
