Statue of NCC founder unveiled
KATHMANDU, JAN 10 - The statue of the founder principal of Nepal Commerce Campus (NCC) late Gehendra Bahadur Rajbhandari was unveiled at the NCC premises today by Dr Govinda Prasad Sharma, Vice-chancellor of the Tribhuvan University on the golden jubilee celebration day of Management education in the country.
On the occasion, Sharma also felicitated teachers and professors who served the campus from 2021 B.S. to 2030 B.S. and inaugurated an online library and a reading room where newspapers of Kantipur Publications will be provided to students free of cost.
Nepal Commerce College was founded in 2011 B.S. with just two rooms, two teachers and 31 students at a school in Lalitpur. After buying the present college building with Min Sumshere Rana in 2032 B.S.,the Nepal Commerce Campus with an area of 21 ropanis, has established itself as one of the best and largest Management institutions in the country. The total number of Management students in the country is estimated to be over 52,000 with over 31,000 only at TU-affiliated colleges.
Madhav Prasad Neupane, campus chief of the Nepal Commerce Campus, said that the organisational online library was probably the first of its kind in the country. He said, "The library is exclusively for professors, researchers and Ph. D. level students." He said the online library was established with the assistance from the government of Denmark. He said the online library will have connections with the libraries of 68 different countries and it is a valuable asset to students.
A total of 23 individuals were honoured with a letter of felicitation and a shawl respectively. Arya Laxmi Rajbhandari, wife of late Gehendra Bahadur Rajbhandari, was also felicitated at the programme.Posted on: 2004-01-11 04:32
