Govt nominates new DDC chiefs
KATHMANDU, JAN 09 - The government today nominated chiefs in for 11 District Development Committees (DDCs) and deputy chiefs for 15 others in a bid to fill vacant posts in the local bodies, Ministry of Local Development said here today.
According to a press statement issued by the ministry, Kumar Bahadur Thapa, Sangram Singh Rai, Ram Prasad Upreti, Ganesh Thapa, Tika Ram Sapkota and Chakrapani Acharya have been nominated to the posts of DDC presidents of Dhankuta, Bhijopur, Dolakha, Arghakhanchi, Baglung and Myagdi districts respectively.
Similarly, Dalbir Pun, Bhakta Bahadur Shah, Shekhar Dutta Bhatta, Min Bahadur Bista and Uday Singh Malla have been nominated in the posts in Rolpa, Dailekh, Doti, Achham and Dadeldhura DDCs. Except Pun all the newly nominated DDC chiefs are from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). Pun is former Vice-President in Rolpa DDC.
The government also nominated deputy chiefs in Jhapa, Ilam, Terhathum, Bhojpur, Siraha, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Baglung, Rolpa, Dailekh, Kailali, Doti, Bajhang, Pyuthan and Kanchanpur DDCs from the same decision.
Six of the nominated Vice-Presidents are from the CPN-UML, two from the RPP, and one from the Nepali Congress. Surya Bahadur Shah, former vice-president of Kailali DDC was nominated in his past post.
