Two dead, dozen injured in bus collision

BIRTAMOD, JHAPA, JAN 09 - Two persons died instantly and over a dozen others sustained injuries when two passenger buses from opposite directions collided with each other at Ghailaduba on the East-West Highway today morning, police said.
According to police Inspector, Gyanendra Pakhrin, at district traffic police office, a bus registered number Na 1 Kha 127 coming from the west and another one register number Me 1 Kha 529 from the east had collided with each other near a bridge over the Biring Khola in the morning.
Those killed in the accident have been identified as bus driver Krishna Prasad Bhattarai of Surunga VDC-5 and a passenger, Netra Prasad Niraula of Taplejung. Among the injured, a driver of Arati Travel and some passengers were seriously injured and they were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. Police suspect that the accident occurred due to the foggy weather that blurred visibility.Posted on: 2004-01-10 02:43
