Cold claims six more kids, death toll rises to 53

BUTWAL, JAN 07 - Cold wave gripping several districts in the plain belt of the country has resulted in the death of six more children.
Six children undergoing treatment for various diseases due to cold including pneumonia died at the Siddartha Child and Woman Hospital in Butwal today, according to Dhurba Shrestha, a official at the hospital.
Presently some 150 children are undergoing treatment at the hospital. The hospital is receiving children from Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu and Dang districts.
Furthermore, some children admitted to the hospitals and clinics in the area have caught diarrhoea. Meanwhile, to the relief of its residents, sun-rays hit Rupandehi district today after over two weeks.
Meanwhile, one more death due to cold is reported from Bara, raising the toll to five in the district. Rit Bahadur Magar of Bharatgunj Singaul VDC-8 died of cold last Sunday, according family sources.
