Sharada school closed for indefinite period
MUDHVARA, DOTI, JAN 07 - Lacking a teacher for the past three months, the students of Sharada Higher Secondary School in Mudhvara of Doti district have locked the school for indefinite period from yesterday.
The students resorted to this mode of agitation as the school administration failed to provide a teacher for economics for three months, according to students.
Regular studies at the school have been disturbed ever since the October 13 incident, when four students were killed in a clash between the security personnel and the Maoists.
Though they have locked out the school, the students expressed great anxiety concerning their studies.
"Two months passed in terror following the incident. Now, the final examinations are nearing and not even half the portion of the course is completed," said Ramesh Joshi, a 12th grader. However, more worried are the students appearing for the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations, according to them.
"We tried to get a teacher for economics. However, no one wants to join the school once they learn about its name," lamented Keshab Raj Sharma, the Headmaster of the school.Posted on: 2004-01-08 03:37
