Interaction on HIV/AIDS held
KATHMANDU, JAN 06 - Aids Counseling and Awareness Programme (ACAP), has taken a novel initiative of conducting awareness classes on HIV/AIDS at schools. On last December 30 and 31, classes were conducted at Pushpa Sadan Secondary School. Similarly, on January 4, classes were held at Public English School, Swayambhu. Students of the age group 16-20 participated in the discussions.
ACAP chairman Rajen Raj Rai told The Kathmandu Post that such classes could help youngsters grow more alert to the HIV/AIDS threat and overcome inhibitions in discussions pertaining to sex. Similarly, Matthijs Brouwer, a volunteer from the Netherlands said that such classes could be useful in making the younger generation in Nepal better equipped to prevent infection.
"We are planning to conduct more classes. The cooperation from school principals has been encouraging,"said Brouwer.
