Court seeks Rs 5m bail from Gautam

KATHMANDU, JAN 06 - The Special Court today sought Rs 5 million bail from, Kiran Gautam, Senior Superintendent of Police facing corruption charges of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
The Court has sent him to police custody as Gautam today could not submit the bail. He will be released tomorrow.
A bench comprising of judges Tap Bahadur Magar and Govinda Prasad Parajuli issued the bail order following Gautam’s deposition to the court today.Gautam had gone at large after the CIAA filed a corruption case against him on October 24 but today he himself produced before the court. The constitutional anti-graft body had accused him of amassing Rs 6.1 million from unknown source of income. He was suspended from the service nearly one year ago as he was found guilty of corruption.Posted on: 2004-01-07 04:07
