PM Thapa calls on Vajpayee
ISLAMABAD, JAN 06 - Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa had a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee at hotel Serena in Islamabad, this evening.
Matters of bilateral interest and the progress made in the ongoing SAARC summit were discussed during the meeting.
Ambassador-at-large for Foreign Affairs Dr Bhekh Bahadur Thapa and Indian Minister for External Affairs Yashwanta Sinha were also present on the occasion.
Also present were foreign Secretary Madhu Raman Acharya, Indian Foreign Secretary Shashank and high-ranking officials of the Foreign Ministry of both the countries.
Likewise, Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa attended a dinner hosted by Pakistani Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, in honour of the leaders of the SAARC member countries, here in Islamabad, today.
Heads of states or governments taking part in the 12th SAARC Summit except for President of the Maldives Maumoon Abdul Gayoom attended the dinner.
President Gayoom left Islamabad for home this afternoon due to special reasons.
The 12th SAARC summit is coming to an end tomorrow with the signing of the South Asian Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA) and the optional protocol to the South Asian Convention on Suppression of Terrorism.
Before leaving for Karachi, Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa will be holding bilateral meeting with President Begum Khaleda Zia of Bangladesh.
Also on Tuesday, Prime Minister Thapa is scheduled to attend a luncheon hosted by Royal Nepalese Ambassador to Pakistan Puskar Mansingh Rajbhandari.Posted on: 2004-01-07 04:22
