Thapa govt on the way out: Chand
KATHMANDU, JAN 06 - Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Lokendra Bahadur Chand today claimed that Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa was on his way out "since there is no alternative to his ouster."
"I am sure he will resign now although he is denying," said Chand at the Reporters’ Club adding his resignation would pave way for resolution of the political imbroglio. He was of the view that solution of the problem lies in thrashing up the consensus among all the political forces including the Maoists.
Chand accused PM Thapa of analysing the issues involved in selfish light by both advocating for an all-party government and ignoring the call for it in the meantime.
Chand was also of the view that equally greater was the need on the part of the political parties to come to a consensus among themselves. He said this while referring to the scenario following the meeting between king and leaders of the various political parties.
Meanwhile, Chand claimed that the RPP would not split asunder following the action initiated against the party General Secretary Kamal Thapa. "Of course what he (Thapa) has done does not behove him. But what is true is party will not split at all," Chand said.Posted on: 2004-01-07 04:25
