Conference advises king to call for referendum
NEPALGUNJ, JAN 05 - Participants of the three-day regional conference organised by the Raj Parisad advised the King to go for a referendum to find a way out of the present crisis facing the country.
The conference, which was largely attended by former Panchas, also called upon the monarch to be more active in politics, saying that the major political parties were responsible for the bad governance of the last twelve years.
Raj Parisad Chairman Parashu Narayan Chaudhary accused the political parties of leading the country toward political instability and said, "It is only king who is still abiding by the constitution."
Raj Parisad member Yagya Raj Acharya said that the regional conference decided to advise the king to go for a referendum to sort out the existing crises. "The conference also decided to request the king to be more active in national politics in order to resolve the problem, including the Maoist one," Acharya said.Posted on: 2004-01-06 04:56
