Bandits in Maoist disguise loot poultry farm
SAPTARI, JAN 05 - A group of armed bandits dressed as Maoists looted Rs. 175,000 from a poultry farm in Kalyanpur VDC-3 yesterday night. The bandits took hold of Bhola Chaudhari, the security guard, Dhag Prasad Bhusal, the accountant and four other employees.
Chandra Gurung, the proprietor of the farm, woke up due to commotion. As he arrived at the scene, the bandits fired two rounds in the air. "We are Maoists shaking the whole country. Give us Rs. 100,000 as donation or else you are finished," was what the bandits told him, according to Gurung.
Following the threats, Gurung asked his accountant Bhusal to give Rs.100,000 to the bandits. Knowing where the money was kept, the bandits opened the drawer themselves and decamped with all money amounting to Rs. 175,000, according to Gurung.
This is the second time the farm has been looted. Two months ago, a group of bandits had looted Rs. 370,000 from the farm, according to Gurung.
Meanwhile, a report from Rautahat said that a group of armed bandits looted cash and valuables worth Rs. 100,000 from a house in Matsari VDC-8 and beat up senior citizens of the house, yesterday night.
Around a dozen bandits broke into the house of Abadhes Jha at night and decamped with cash and valuables. They also beat up Jha’s elderly parents, according to family sources. The incident occurred even as four houses in neighbouring Pacahrukhi VDC were being looted.
