Rebels lock out DDC chairman’s house
NUWAKOT, JAN 05 - Maoist rebels locked the house of Jhanak Pyakurel, the Chairman of District Development Committee (DDC), Nuwakot, and ousted his aging parents yesterday evening. The rebels locked the DDC Chairman’s house in Gorkhu VDC stating that his parents failed to convince the Chairman to resign from the post. They locked the house and installed a Maoist party flag on the house yard, according to the elderly couple.
However, Chairman Pyakurel expressed his ignorance over the Maoists seeking his resignation. "All I know is that the rebels had demanded Rs. 50,000 from me," said Pyakurel. The elderly couple above 60, have expressed anguish over the Maoist act.Posted on: 2004-01-06 04:43
