Nepal, Bhutan to resolve differences
ISLAMABAD, JAN 04 - PM Surya Bahadur Thapa today met his Bhutanese counterpart Jigme Y Thinley and took up the refugees’ repatriation issue. He also called on Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and discussed bilateral issues.Dr Madan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressing a press briefing, said, "Both the countries expressed regrets on the December 22 incident that took place at the Khudunabari Refugees Camp." The two prime ministers also acknowledged that the incident could not derail the reparation issue, he said.
He further informed that the two leaders agreed to convene a ministerial level meeting soon to reassess the situation and resolve the differences. "The date for the meeting will be decided through consultation between the foreign ministers of the two countries," he said.
During the PM’s meeting with the Pakistani President Musharraf, the two leaders agreed to convene a meeting of Nepal-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission in Kathmandu on February. The meeting will be led by the finance ministers of the two countries.
