Time to act for king, parties: Nepal
KATHMANDU, JAN 04 - Madhav Kumar Nepal, general secretary of the CPN-UML has urged both the king and the political parties to exploit the opportunity, which has begun with his meeting with the king.
Inaugurating the fourth convention of the UML Lalitpur district today, Nepal said, "My meeting with the king has opened a door for resolution to the current stalemate." He also claimed that the Surya Bahadur Thapa government should immediately be dismissed in order to initiate the process.
Reiterating the UML stance for formation of an all-party government, Nepal said that such an all-party government only would resolve the current crisis. "This confrontation should not be prolonged," he said, adding, "It will invite further chaos in the country."
However, he also asserted that he could not trust the king and the Maoists.
"King and Maoists say one thing but do another in action," Nepal said.Posted on: 2004-01-05 05:10
