Medical representatives’ convention concludes
KATHMANDU, JAN 04 - The 10th convention of the Nepal Medical and Sales Representatives Association (NMSRA), concluded in the valley today.
NMSRA, established in the year 1971, is the only association of medical and sales representatives working in the country. NMSRA has its branches spread over 9 cities in the country including the valley. There are a total of 1200 Medical and Sales Representatives (MSR) as members of NMSRA, of which only 100 are women.
According to Prasant Manandhar, former president of NMSAR, there are approximately 500 MSRs in the valley. Data suggests that 55 to 60 per cent of the medicines are consumed in the valley alone.
Drugs worth six billion rupees are consumed in the country of which only 27 per cent accounts for the medicines manufactured in Nepal. The rest are imported from India and other countries.
At the programme, Madan Prasad Bajagain, central president of NMSAR, said the association has helped to provide a force to the voices of the people involved in the profession. "With the help of this association, we have been able to make our voices heard to the concerned authorities."
Director General of Department of Labour, Sharad Chandra Sharma Gajurel, gave away letter of appreciation and a memento to former presidents of NMSRA, sponsors of NMSRA convention.Posted on: 2004-01-05 04:45
