RPP sacks Kamal Thapa
KATHMANDU, JAN 03 - Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana today sacked party’s general secretary Kamal Thapa from his post for his alleged violation of party directives.
Thapa, who is also the minister for information and communications, has been accused of using the government against party interests and failing to perform day-to-day works of the party as its general secretary.
In his letter addressed to Thapa, chairman Rana has also accused Thapa of misusing government media against the party and playing a dubious role in widening the gap between the party and the government.
Reacting to his "dismissal" later today, Thapa flayed the party chairman’s decision as gross violation of the party statute. "RPP’s statute does not allow the chairman to sack any office bearer of the party," he said. "It is also against the established norms of the party."
Talking to The Kathmandu Post, Thapa said the party statute makes it mandatory for the party to provide a chance to anyone to submit clarifications on the charges levelled against him.
"Party should initiate disciplinary action and complete a series of process before removing me from the post," Thapa said.
In yet another move, the party’s Central Discipline Committee (CDC) today sent a letter to Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa demanding further clarification on his relation with the party.
