Two more succumb to cold wave in Mahottari

MAHOTTARI, JAN 03 - Two more deaths related to cold wave have been reported in Mahottari today. With this the death toll due to cold wave this season has reached seven in Mahottari.
Five-year-old Sanjaya Yadav of Sonama VDC-2 succumbed to cold wave this morning while another victim was 60-year-old Kari Yadav of the same VDC, according to concerned family sources.
Meanwhile, reports from Butwal said that persistent cold wave has affected children in the Lumbini zone.
Of the total patients admitted to Children and Women’s Hospital in Butwal, 75 per cent are children, suffering from pneumonia, according to hospital sources.
The hospital sees around 100 patients everyday from Terai districts such as Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu and Rupandehi. Excessive cold has also hampered studies with low attendance.
Health workers at the Lumbini Zonal Hospital and private clinics said that the health institutions are flooded with patients complaining chest problems.
